Kasilof, Alaska.  July 27, 2011.  Fish stories abound when there are six hours to kill on a Kasilof whose king salmon supply has been dashed for the day by net fishermen at the river’s mouth.  Despite hours of reloading our lines with roe, a little sockeye was all Bill could find us (and we didn’t catch it).

Soldotna, Alaska.  July 26, 2011.  10pm.  Red salmon run up the Kenai River from the Pacific every summer to spawn.  The weaker among them don’t survive the trip and rot along the bank while fishermen cast lines in the current and let the thousands of two-foot salmon simply hook themselves.

Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, NY. July 6, 2011. I’ve obviously failed to keep these off the main page, but I’m done trying. The 5D is a hassle to lug without purpose, and the phone is always in the pocket. So.

Union Square.
