NPR streamed the inauguration late; The New York Times had already announced the completed oath before Trump even appeared on the steps of the Capitol. And at Columbus Circle, a crowd of maybe 80 protesters dispersed by 11:50, leaving his behemoth to sit undisturbed on 8th Avenue while Trump told the world that the “American carnage stops right here and stops right now.”
The inevitable hesitant creep toward progress, and its eventual subsequent sideline obsolescence.
